The Seabold Church has been hosting its community fundraising holiday bazaar for 99 years. This November, the bazaar will reach 100, presumably not with the same people who started it.
To celebrate the anniversary, the bazaar is getting a name change. This year it will be called the Holiday ABC Sale for “a large variety of Artwork, Baked goods (which the church is well known for), and Collectible items.”
As is the custom, there will be a children’s gift room, where kids can choose and wrap gifts for family members. No parents are allowed in there to peek at their gifts.
Seabold Church was established on the north end of Bainbridge Island in 1911. Forty-five years later, in 1956, the congregation voted to become a Methodist Church. The congregants committed to meeting and raising funds for community needs and missions became the United Methodist Women (UMW).
The bazaar happens November 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. All the proceeds from sales will be donated to local and worldwide organizations, including Helpline, Fishline, UMCOR, and Imagine No Malaria. Seabed Church is located on the street that has its name, at 6894 NE Seabold Church Road.
